The word “Inspired” just isn’t enough…

By WorkshopsNo Comments

Camille is living la vie Parisienne. And blogging about it to let us all live vicariously through her! She seems to be infatuated with all the same fancies that K n’ I are in love with too. I spent hours on her blog when I first found it awhile back and I can truly say the word “inspired” doesn’t quite fit for how I feel when I visit her site. She blogged about K and I last month, and I just composed an email to her to invite her to guest blog on our site occasionally. She is the perfect Parisienne liaison for us! Oh, side note, if you are somewhat new to our blog, we have done three Paris boudoir workshops in the past and hope to do more in the future, although do note not the near future ;). So if you even slightly get all dreamy-eyed when you think of Paris, check out her amazing site & blog, www.parisinpink.com

She recently added THE BOUDOIR DIVAS to her homepage! How lucky are we to get a feature? 🙂

Oh and if I haven’t showed you enough, here is a mis-mosh of the type of adorable images that can be found on her blog.

Aren’t Camille’s loves just the most delectable?

Boudoir Divas Product Testimonial

By Boudoir Tips, WorkshopsNo Comments

Got the SWEETEST email last week, and it just made my day!!!! Here it is…

“I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for everything you two are doing for the photography industry. I had no intention of offering this line of imagery prior to going to WPPI last year. I bought your entire package and let me just tell you that it was worth every penny! I am the first in my area to offer “Little Black Book” sessions. I had my first pilot run on Tues. and it was AMAZING! My goal to have women feel empowered, sexy and beautiful was received beyond my wildest expectations. I have no idea why I waited so long to try this. Anyhoo! Enough babbling… THANKS!” Sincerely, Nissa Olson, Ideal Photography

Our workshop attendees ROCK

By Personal, Workshops3 Comments

Everyone loves getting presents or little surprises in the mail (and if you say you don’t, we say liar! 😉 ). But seriously,  technology these days has led to most people communicating via text, facebook (check out our page for clients! haha), blogs, etc.  So when we get a real package in the mail, it is always exciting!  And that exact thing happened last week when one of our October attendees, Jen, sent us an adorable care package/thank you note to our studio.  Check out the picture below to see what she included, but I am OBSESSED with this necklace!  We are trying to get her to tell us where she got it so our whole team can each have one. 🙂  And those cute little corsets are filled with a delicious smelling potpourri (which we currently have hanging in our Studio Dressing Room).

Here’s the beautiful Jen (below). Go check out her site too: Jenerations Photography.  Jen, thanks so much for taking the time to send us that gift and we hope you enjoyed our Workshop!!

February Workshop | Deets & a couple spots left!

By Boudoir Tips, Workshops3 Comments

Happy Thursday everyone! Riss and Kimee are busy filming our new LIGHTING DVD, so I thought I’d take a moment to pass along some more information on our next scheduled workshop. 🙂 It will be held February 1-3, 2011 at our beautiful 4,500 square foot studio in San Diego! For those of you who were wondering or emailing about any international workshops next year, unfortunately, we will NOT be traveling for a destination workshop in 2011. We are bummed as well, but the cost for all you would have been too high and we would rather you be able to spend your money on equipment for your studio! On the plus side, there is a huge advantage to coming to our studio for the workshop, and that is being able to see our WHOLE studio, use OUR equipment and our sets and really get the full experience on how we run our studio.

Below is a general time line on how the workshop will run, including some NEW additions to our Workshop!

Want to hear what past attendees are saying?  Here’s a testimonial from Anita, who joined us at our most recent workshop:

“I am SO glad I attend the San Diego workshop as I not only had a great time and took some phenomenal pictures for my portfolio, but I learned so much about how to launch a boudoir photography business.  As a new boudoir photographer, it was priceless to learn the tips, tricks, secrets, and basics of launching my business the right way from the original Divas!  I told my husband everything we did and he nailed it – “you went to school!”.  I don’t remember school being this fun!  If I did, I would have paid more attention!  Thanks Diva Team!”

If you are ready to take your business to the next level, launch your own studio, or revamp your current business plan, then go to our BOUDOIR SHOP to sign up today!  We only have 5 spots left!  If you have any questions about the workshop, you can email me at [email protected] or give me a call in the studio at 858.485.0443.  We look forward to another successful workshop and meeting all you wonderful attendees!

Boudoir Consulting

By Workshops2 Comments

Ok… we are SOOOOOOO very excited about this announcement! It’s been in the works a LONG time, and photographers have been asking (pleading, begging, and emailing us every week…) that we start offering 1-on-1 mentoring sessions. So – we’ve finally got this program all figured out! We had our first one last week with Denise Birdsong of Sweet Cheeks Boudoir, and it was so awesome! We absolutely LOVE our boudoir workshops, and if you’re getting into boudoir photography or if you’d like to take your biz to the next level, we would highly recommend joining us at our next workshop here in San Diego! (We have one coming up in Oct that’s already sold out, but you can now register for our FEB WORKSHOP!) If you’re thinking about doing a Feb workshop, you’ll want to register ASAP – because we only have 20 spots, and a few of them have already been taken! Anyway… getting back to the BOUDOIR CONSULTS… We’ve decided to make these consultation days completely tailored to YOU… so YOU will be helping us decide on the topics we go over, and our timeline will be based on what YOU want to learn! So if you’ve already come to a boudoir workshop with us, or if you know that you’ll learn better in a 1-on-1 setting, then THIS is the best option for you! If you’re interested in getting more info, please email Ashley: [email protected]

(PS: the photo above is from the amazing DIOR ad campaign; we’re in love with that shot!)

Denise was kind enough to share (on video) a little bit about her Boudoir Consulting Day… Thanks so much, Denise, for your willingness to share with everyone about your experience. We had such a great time with you here, and we are so excited to see your business continue to gow and flourish. xoxo, Marissa & Kimee

Boudoir Divas speaking at WPPI

By Inspiration, Workshops18 Comments

Wow… we have the greatest job in the world. Not only do we have wonderful clients (over 400 boudoir shoots per year w/ women who come to see us from all over the country)… and not only do we work with the most AMAZING women (fabulous staff, Crystal, Deena, Ashley, & newest addition Danielle!)… but on top of all of this, we ALSO have the opportunity to travel and meet some bad-ass photographers from around the WORLD.

Most recently, we’ve had the chance to lead a speaking program with WPPI’s Road Trip 2010, in Irvine last week, and in Dallas TX yesterday! We met SO many new friends, and we just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who came to hear us speak. It is truly an honor to be able to share with all of you about boudoir… something we are so incredibly passionate about. Way back in 2007 when we launched our “Bringing Boudoir Back” campaign, it took a long time for photography organizations to realize that boudoir really WAS about to make a comeback! A handful of forward-thinking photography organizations did agree to let us come and share our vision for what boudoir could become, and in the past 3.5 years, we’ve seen boudoir just EXPLODE as more and more people in the industry are starting to see the potential that is in this niche. We are so excited about where things have come, and we just can’t WAIT to see where this is going to go next!

To all of you who believed in us (and who believed in boudoir) way back in 2006-07… THANK YOU. Seriously, thank you for listening to these couple of crazy gals who believed that boudoir would become the next big thing. Thank you for coming to our workshops, thank you for purchasing our books, thank you for traveling to hear us blab on and on about this topic that we are so passionate about. I know, I know… this is starting to sound like a lame ‘acceptance speech’ at the Emmy’s or something. Whatever. We just want you to know that we wouldn’t be where we are today without all of you who have supported us and helped us and believed in us along the way. And… you never know… maybe someday we’ll also have the chance to lead a platform presentation at WPPI Vegas (fingers crossed!) 😉 Thanks again, WPPI, for inviting us on the Road Trip. We had an amazing time, and we’re honored to be counted among so many industry leaders who have done so much for others.

Here are a few photos from our presentation at the Irvine stop on the Road Trip
In this first shot, we are showing where the business started out (in Marissa’s TINY one-car garage!) A lot of people don’t know this, but Marissa actually came up with the business plan for the Boudoir Divas WAAAAY back in 2001, right after she graduated from high school!

This next image shows our Mission Statement on the screen. This is something that is INCREDIBLY important to us. We encourage all of you to sit down and write out your own mission statement – something that is personal and unique to you and your business – something that reminds you WHY you do what you do.

Thanks to everyone who came to hear us speak! PS… to those of you at the Irvine show… we realize that we had to cut out the ‘MARKETING’ portion of our presentation (that’s what happens when Becker talks too long and we start 20 minutes late!) 😉 just kidding Becker, you know we love you! Ok, but to those of you who were at that show – we WILL be sending you that marketing section. Actually, maybe we’ll send it to EVERYONE on our mailing list! If you’re not on that list, CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP RIGHT NOW!

One more thing (as if this blog post wasn’t long enough already)… we are THINKING about possibly recording our speaking presentation and having it available for download for FREE on our website. A lot of people have heard us give this presentation this year, but as 2010 is coming to a close, we already have new plans for a NEW speaking program (just in case we get invited to speak in Vegas)… 😉 … So anyway, if you’d be interested in having our 2010 speaking program available to view for free, leave a comment below. If there’s enough demand, we’ll make it happen! Thanks everyone!
xoxo, Kimberlee
