Photo Shoot with Becker!

By Personal2 Comments

The self-proclaimed male diva of photography, BECKER, was kind enough to tolerate The Boudoir Divas’ nonsense for a few hours and take some photos of us. I have to say that it was nerve wracking to be in front of the camera. K has quite a natural ability and ease with her graceful long limbs. I was very impressed by her and her moves. I on the other hand felt a little stuck in cement at times, but I can say that I definitely can identify with my clients a little bit more now. Visit www.thebecker.com to see all the images and crazy/fun video of him editing some of K’s dance moves.

On another funny note, when Becker twittered that he was doing a photo shoot with “The Boudoir Divas” everyone thought that we were doing a boudoir photography shoot for him! Hilarious. Maybe that should be the next on our agenda, Becker would be a perfect candidate for our first male boudoir photography session.

Boudoir featured in PPA magazine!

By Inspiration7 Comments

So exciting! We’re featured in the July issue of Professional Photographer Magazine!!! Thanks, PPA, for featuring us this month… and thank you, Stephanie, for doing a wonderful job on the article! We are SOOO thrilled that boudoir is finally starting to receive the attention it deserves! We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past few years, received a bit of flack in the process, trying to give boudoir a ‘facelift’ and attempting to change the way the industry approaches boudoir – as well as the way the public views boudoir. A few years ago, we couldn’t find ANY resources/workshops/education for boudoir photography… and just when was the last time you saw a boudoir photographer on the speaking line-up for a national photo convention? There wasn’t anything! (Well, until this year at DWF, anyway) 😉 We are just so excited that we are able to say: BOUDOIR IS BACK!™ And we are also incredibly thankful/honored to be able to lead the industry in bringing boudoir to the masses! (More on that later)… 🙂

PS – now all we need is to get on the speaking line-up for WPPI &/or Imaging USA… Not sure why they haven’t gotten back to us; anyone want to start a petition to bring boudoir to these industry events? Haha, kidding. Sort of. 😉

Click here to sign up for Paris 2010!

Filmed & Produced by: Joslyn Davis
Other filming by: Weston Boucher
Edited by: Kimberlee West
Production Company: The Boudoir Divas 😉

Thanks to all of our fabulous workshop attendees!!! I’m so bummed, but some of our video footage was lost after Paris… 🙁 … SO – if you’re wondering why your beautiful face isn’t on this video, it’s not because we were excluding you on purpose; it’s simply because we didn’t get all of the videos. Sorry ladies! Thank you to ALL of you Paris 2009 attendees for joining us in the City of Light, and thank you so much for sharing on our videos. Joslyn, thanks again for taking the time to interview everyone in Paris! We can’t wait for the 2010 workshop! PARIS is the only workshop we have scheduled between now and April 2010, so if you’ve been thinking about coming to a workshop, you should definitely go sign up; it’s going to be so much fun. See you all in Paris!

Top Secret Boudoir Divas Project:: To Be Announced SOON…

By Personal7 Comments

This is a little video footage taken this week, on Thursday morning. Can’t yet tell you what it’s all about (top secret project). We’re still not 100% sure if it’s all going to work out, but if we decide to move forward… and then as soon as we are able to talk about it, we are going to be bouncing off the walls. Seriously, if this Top Secret project works out, we will be two super-ecstatic gals. 🙂

Just for fun…

By Personal, WorkshopsNo Comments

Came across these images today & realized I hadn’t even processed any of my shots from this ‘just for fun’ shoot that Marissa & I did a few months ago w/ some fabulous models. Here are a few of my faves:

The workshop officially starts tomorrow, and we are so excited to meet everyone! We have a GREAT line-up of models (past clients!) that will be joining us for our day of shooting this week, and let me just tell you – you photographers are going to get some awesome shots! The thing I love best about our workshop is the fact that you get one-on-one time with a few of our models; getting the opportunity to practice some of the skills you’ve learned (ie posing, lighting, talking w/ your client, etc), AWAY from the hustle and bustle of workshop craziness. No fighting for your shot around all of the other photogs! 🙂 If you’ve been thinking about joining us at one of our workshops, be sure to sign up for our NEWSLETTER LIST – because we’ll be announcing the next workshop date very soon!

24 minutes.

By Workshops7 Comments

At the Paris workshop, I talked a lot about how to SAVE TIME on editing, imaging, & album design. You don’t have to slave your life away behind your computer screen! To prove a point, I made the claim that I could design an album in under an hour. So while all the workshop gals were working on their images… I was in this focused-nerdy-Kimberlee-world of album design. I tuned everything/everyone out, buckled down, and designed an album. The exact time it took me? 24 minutes. I’m a super competitive person, so when I challenge myself, I do everything in my power to complete the challenge. I didn’t realize just how focused I was until I saw this video Courtney posted on Facebook. What a nerd I am. Awesome. 🙂

In all seriousness, though… Marissa & I have found that we just love leading workshops, and we love tailoring the information to our attendees. If you all want an intensive lesson on the basics of Photoshop – we’ll do it. If most of the attendees are experts in PS, however, I am more than happy to delve into another topic, such as album design – or editing video – or creating a website with Showit. We want our workshop to be beneficial to you, so we definitely want to tailor it to fit your needs. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the San Diego workshop next week! See you soon!

Photo Shoot with Weston Boucher!

By Personal2 Comments

If you’re a member of our Facebook Group, you may have already seen this one! This was a fun little video that we put together from our photo shoot w/ Marissa’s hubby Weston. Weston goes by quite a few nicknames around here… I like to call him “Dub-B” or just Dub for short. Anyway, he is an amazing photographer, and we had a blast shooting with him (check out the Boucher’s recent work on their blog!) Thanks again, Dub! You rock.
