Boudoir Divas speaking at WPPI

Wow… we have the greatest job in the world. Not only do we have wonderful clients (over 400 boudoir shoots per year w/ women who come to see us from all over the country)… and not only do we work with the most AMAZING women (fabulous staff, Crystal, Deena, Ashley, & newest addition Danielle!)… but on top of all of this, we ALSO have the opportunity to travel and meet some bad-ass photographers from around the WORLD.

Most recently, we’ve had the chance to lead a speaking program with WPPI’s Road Trip 2010, in Irvine last week, and in Dallas TX yesterday! We met SO many new friends, and we just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who came to hear us speak. It is truly an honor to be able to share with all of you about boudoir… something we are so incredibly passionate about. Way back in 2007 when we launched our “Bringing Boudoir Back” campaign, it took a long time for photography organizations to realize that boudoir really WAS about to make a comeback! A handful of forward-thinking photography organizations did agree to let us come and share our vision for what boudoir could become, and in the past 3.5 years, we’ve seen boudoir just EXPLODE as more and more people in the industry are starting to see the potential that is in this niche. We are so excited about where things have come, and we just can’t WAIT to see where this is going to go next!

To all of you who believed in us (and who believed in boudoir) way back in 2006-07… THANK YOU. Seriously, thank you for listening to these couple of crazy gals who believed that boudoir would become the next big thing. Thank you for coming to our workshops, thank you for purchasing our books, thank you for traveling to hear us blab on and on about this topic that we are so passionate about. I know, I know… this is starting to sound like a lame ‘acceptance speech’ at the Emmy’s or something. Whatever. We just want you to know that we wouldn’t be where we are today without all of you who have supported us and helped us and believed in us along the way. And… you never know… maybe someday we’ll also have the chance to lead a platform presentation at WPPI Vegas (fingers crossed!) 😉 Thanks again, WPPI, for inviting us on the Road Trip. We had an amazing time, and we’re honored to be counted among so many industry leaders who have done so much for others.

In this first shot, we are showing where the business started out (in Marissa’s TINY one-car garage!) A lot of people don’t know this, but Marissa actually came up with the business plan for the Boudoir Divas WAAAAY back in 2001, right after she graduated from high school!

This next image shows our Mission Statement on the screen. This is something that is INCREDIBLY important to us. We encourage all of you to sit down and write out your own mission statement – something that is personal and unique to you and your business – something that reminds you WHY you do what you do.

Thanks to everyone who came to hear us speak! PS… to those of you at the Irvine show… we realize that we had to cut out the ‘MARKETING’ portion of our presentation (that’s what happens when Becker talks too long and we start 20 minutes late!) 😉 just kidding Becker, you know we love you! Ok, but to those of you who were at that show – we WILL be sending you that marketing section. Actually, maybe we’ll send it to EVERYONE on our mailing list! One more thing (as if this blog post wasn’t long enough already)… we are THINKING about possibly recording our speaking presentation and having it available for download for FREE on our website. A lot of people have heard us give this presentation this year, but as 2010 is coming to a close, we already have new plans for a NEW speaking program (just in case we get invited to speak in Vegas)… 😉 … So anyway, if you’d be interested in having our 2010 speaking program available to view for free, leave a comment below. Position available at our studio….

This is one of the hardest posts I have probably ever written on all our blogs. Crystal our studio manager will be leaving her normal duties for the fabulous gift of motherhood. Although we are so happy for her and hope that she will eventually still be able to be a part of the team in other smaller ways, it’s time to start the difficult task of trying to fill her shoes. Crystal thank you so much for lending us your talents to make our wonderful studio what it is today. Aside from your incredible photography talent, more than anything I am going to miss your dedication and fabulous work ethic. You were never afraid to get your hands dirty, and you never complained ever. I love your spirit and your attitude. You are a fab example of a team mate. Our days just won’t be the same without you and I hope we still see a lot of you.

With this change we are also looking to do a little bit of restructuring. The position that we will be looking to fill now is the studio concierge position as a trial that may last for a few months. If all goes well the new concierge we will be given more responsibility and a higher title. We ask that you email us your resume and tell us exactly why you are interested in this position and why you believe you would be a great candidate. Please note that this is not a photography position. The hours we be 30-40 hours per week and would vary based on the schedule. Our email address is [email protected]. ok, NOW the Referral List Invites have officially been sent!

So I know we told you all that invites were going out yesterday, and sorry if we scared any of you waiting for an invite and you thought you didn’t receive one! BUT, they have finally been sent out! There were so many wonderful photographers it took us awhile to compile the list and we are so grateful for all your patience and support as we launch this new venture. 🙂 So check your inbox in the coming hours for your invitation. Paris workshop | Blog review

Ashley here 🙂 Kimee and I are just starting to get back to a regular routine at our San Diego Studio after being in Paris for two workshops and dealing with all the chaos the volcano in Iceland caused: disrupting travel plans, delaying flights, canceling our models and many attendees trips, and over all making it much more stressful than it needed to be! Marissa and her hubby, Weston, are still doing a little traveling on their own and we can’t wait for them to get back! But even with all the craziness, it was still a successful couple of weeks and we enjoyed meeting all of our amazing attendees! One of our attendees, Laura from Laura Evans Photography, joined us at our second workshop, just posted a blog about her experience at our workshop. If you have been considering a workshop, and maybe wanted a little insight from someone who has been to one already, check this out. Thanks so much for sharing Laura and we are so happy you joined us and enjoyed your time at our Paris workshop!

The Best Boudoir Photographer {The Divas’ Worldwide Referral List!}

Hey everyone! We’ve got some BIG news. If you received our last newsletter, you’ve already heard this news! That’s right, friends and fellow photographers… It’s on it’s way! We’ve been dropping hints about our referral list on our blog for a while, and a few of you have already emailed to tell us that this is something you’d be interested in. And the great news is that it’s coming SOON! We’re working on the finishing touches of the referral list, and we’re about to start taking applications for photographers who would like to join! Why did we decide to create our referral list? In short, it’s because we get TONS of inquiries every week from potential clients from across the US and around the world who are interested in finding a boudoir photographer that has a similar style to our photography… and we would LOVE to have a place where we can list the TOP BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHERS in every city, state, and country worldwide! So… wanna join our list??? Well, once this baby is officially launched, we’ll have a lot of info & details, but in the meantime, here’s what we’re asking you to do in order to start the process of joining…
