Hmmmm…. something’s off here….

By Personal5 Comments

marissa_kimberlee Designing a little Paris boudoir promo thingy this morning and I went to use elements from this PSD that K designed for us awhile ago.

While totally adorable K, there seems to be something a little odd about us. First off, didn’t you know that tripods are totally out these days.

And secondly, I personally liked having arms. Did you decide you didn’t like yours? What gives? Lol.

I just LOVE all of these little accessories! (All found at my absolute favorite vintage store) 🙂 So I’m in the midst of packing today, and I’ll be gone for the next 2 weeks… first stop: Denver! Then Burkina Faso (Africa), and then just a couple days in Paris on the way back from Africa. I’ll be sure to post pics when I get back home! xoxo, K

And this pretty lady featured is Kathie. Thanks Kathie for letting us post your images! – M

paris_workshop

I am in shock by the fantastic prices on Orbitz for a flight to Paris during our workshop.
From San Diego it is $635 plus booking fees and taxes. Last year we paid about $1300 per ticket. This is wonderful news… more money left for shopping in Paris!

For those of you who are considering booking the workshop and want more info. Please visit our Paris Boudoir Workshop blog post for more info!

Summer reading

By PersonalOne Comment

K knows me well! She got me this book, Shanghai Girls, for my birthday. Lisa See is my favorite author. Last year I was all over her book, The Peony Pavillion. And, the year before that it was Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. She has to be one of the most clever fiction writers I have ever read. And I love that she has researched Chinese culture thoroughly and incorporates it into her novels in a way that makes you feel like you are being given the loveliest history lesson of your life. Her characters are always flawed in a way that makes you identify with them so much more than your average fiction heroine. And, she teaches lessons in her books that sit with me for years even after I read them.

Just wanted to say thanks for the book K! You are the best bitner ever. I will hand it over to you when I am done. – M

The $285 will cover a sewing machine and the shipping and handling to send you the book. Only five left so please buy ASAP! (Simply click on the Paypal button below… it will send you to a link for you to pay the $285… once we’ve received notice of the payment, we’ll send you the Workshop Book in the mail!)

On another note, World Vision is an amazing charity that we love. We donate $5 from each shoot to their Girls in Crisis Fund. You can check out our running total at www.firstgiving.com
One of my favorite things World Vision does is create a way to buy the perfect gift for the people in your life who already have everything that they need, by buying items for needy people in their name. You can buy chickens for a family, vaccinations for children, a bicycle for parents to get to work, etc. To buy gifts visit www.worldvision.com

Diva faces a fear

By Personal3 Comments

I saw M’s post last night – and thought it would be fitting for me to share my latest ‘non-diva’ moment as well.  Certainly NOT death-defying and not even nearly as scary as M’s post below (she told me the stories about that river… she was truly scared to death, as I know I would’ve been too!)  🙂  While M was facing the river, I was facing my fear of heights.  While on a mini-vacation with my family, we were on this cool ropes course – and my little brother made me do the ‘leap of faith’ where you climb to the top of a crickety, unsturdy, wobbly pole, and then get to the top, try to balance, stand up, and then leap to attempt to catch the trapeeze thing.  Seems easy enough – and doesn’t seem scary (c’mon, you’re being held by a rope if you fall!)  But for some reason, that moment was just a tad bit scary for me.  Getting the nerve to stand up… not thinking about how far the drop below is… trying to focus on breathing instead of throwing up… then looking ahead and telling myself that I can do it… And… I’m happy to say that I did it.  Didn’t catch the trapeeze, but I tried.  I jumped!

Next up on the facing-fear-agenda: tackling my greatest fear… any suggestions on how I should overcome this one?

Diva scared to death!

Yeah, yeah, you’ve heard us say we aren’t “divas.” Well, not all the time that is. Here is proof! Oh man, honestly, after feeling the power of that wave hit me I was more scared than I have ever been for my personal safety. As gravity pulled the wave back into the river it sucked me with it. Luckily my toes were tucked and I used every bit of ab muscle I had to pull my submerged head and flattened body back up and into the raft. After feeling the power of the waves I shuddered at the thought of the most powerful river threat, the black hole! All I wanted to do was make sure I staying in that inflatable thing, no matter what! Some team member I was.

That is Weston sitting in front of me, and our “broadie” Bri in the front right. Member him from Paris? Allen, our new friend is back right.
K was supposed to go but because we had to move the dates (my baby niece arrived early!!!) she couldn’t make the new dates.
Sorry K!  I would say “next time” but I am not so sure that there will be a “next” time. Lol. Well, maybe…. -M
