One of the BEST things about our San Diego boudoir workshop: Building your bad-ass portfolio! The first full day of the workshop is dedicated completely to: POSING… SHOOTING… and LIGHTING! We want you to leave the boudoir workshop with a solid understanding of these things – and we also want you to have the opportunity to implement everything that we talk about. We’ll be teaching you how to coach your client through posing and expression, showing you which poses are the most flattering for all body types. We’ll show you our shooting style as you observe us working with a client in our studio. We’ll show you the different lighting set-ups we use on a daily basis in our studio, giving you all the equipment specs, then showing you how we utilize the lights while we demonstrate with a client’s photo shoot. After you’ve heard us talk about posing, lighting, and shooting, the rest of the day is dedicated to YOU – shooting and implementing all of the things we’ve talked about. You’ll be shooting in groups, using 3 of our favorite sets here at the San Diego boudoir studio. You’ll also be shooting outside, getting some more fashion-inspired images using natural light outdoors. Finally (and this is the BEST part!), you’ll also have an opportunity to work one-on-one with a ‘client’ so that you will have the chance to actually put these techniques into practice, as if you were doing a real photo shoot on your own. Of course, we’ll be on-hand if you have any questions, or if you get stuck and need a little help with posing. But we really want you to have a few minutes of working alone, without having to ‘fight for your shot’ by working around the other photographers. We pride ourselves in this aspect of the workshop… from our very first boudoir workshop in January 2008, we knew that we wanted this to be something we would offer to our attendees. AND, another thing that we take pride in offering our attendees… we use REAL CLIENTS for our models on the day of shooting! Again, from the very first workshop, we have always wanted to make sure that you are getting the very best experience possible here at the Boudoir Workshop. We want you to leave here with a solid portfolio, yes, of course… but we also want you to leave here with the confidence to be able to go home and immediately implement everything you’ve learned. If we were using only professional models, we wouldn’t be equipping you to implement our posing and coaching techniques – because professional models do all the work for you! It’s way too easy to get good shots of models without ever having to try to pose them (they already know all the best poses!). So by us using real clients as our models for the day of shooting, you will be able to practice our posing techniques with REAL women. This is such a cool part of our workshop!

Hey, hey, hey everyone out there in internet land, which Kimberlee and I refer to as “Nerverland” in our conversations! Okay, so I’m not here as early as K in her vid, but it is Monday and I am ready to rumble so that is a big feat considering the whole “Monday” thing. Although, I must say I watched the video after recording it and MAN, what a banana! How many times can a person say “ppppin-up party” in row. It’s like my p’s are popping gum noises. Am I always that oblivious? Anywho, here it is all the same…..
We just threw together a little teaser of Miss A – from her shoot yesterday here at the San Diego studio! This is actually the sister of one of our FAVORITE models that we’ve worked with in the past… and this shoot was part of an all day PIN-UP PARTY! These parties are SOOO much fun; we are doing more and more of them, and we just love them. Thank you, A, for allowing us to use your images/video here!
For our famous shoot with [b]ecker, we knew we wanted to have some dramatic looks… which is why we brought on the fabulous Catherine (Makeup by Catherine)! She is so wonderful. We’ve worked with her before, with some other shoots, and we always love the way she adds drama with her mad makeup skills. Yes, I just said mad makeup skills. 😉 Seriously, we love Catherine – and if you’re in the Socal area, looking for a makeup artist, definitely look her up!
